In June 1940, with World War II on the horizon, the Army solicited bids from 135 automakers for a 1/4 ton "light reconnaissance vehicle" tailored to Army specifications. Only three companies responded — Bantam, Willys, and Ford — but, within a year's time they collectively produced the template for the vehicle known worldwide as the "jeep".

Willys-Overland delivered the prototype "Quad" (named for the 4x4 system it featured), to the Army on Armistice Day (Veteran's Day), November of 1940. The design was completed in a remarkable 75 days.

Built from 1941 through 1945, over 600,000 MB units were produced, predominantly the workhorse of World War II, playing a vital role in military operations during the period.

Historically significant, it was the first mass-produced four-wheel-drive car which paved the way for civilian use after the war in the form of the CJ Series with the Wrangler serving as the modern-day interpretation

We are pleased to bring to market this restored 1944 Willys MB Jeep. The body is completely original but it comes with a new floor, new guards, bonnet bumper bar and grill. Brake and master cylinder have been overhauled, gearbox and transfer case have been overhauled. New starter motor changed to 12 Volt for more reliability. New fuel lines and also new brakes line and with a fresh service, axe, shovel and jerrycan – it is ready for military action.
