Dealer Summary
The Ferrari 456 GT, introduced in 1992, marked a return to Ferrari’s front-engined V12 grand tourers, a lineage that traces back to the legendary 365 GTB/4 "Daytona" and earlier models like the 250 GT Lusso.
Designed to combine high-performance driving with luxury and comfort, the 456 GT became one of Ferrari’s most refined and powerful 2+2 models of its era.
By the late 1980s, Ferrari’s lineup had become increasingly focused on mid-engine supercars like the Testarossa and F40, while its front-engine 2+2 models, such as the Ferrari 412, were aging and in need of a successor. Ferrari recognized the demand for a modern grand tourer that would blend performance with usability, targeting customers who wanted both V12 power and long-distance comfort.
Under the direction of Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, the company sought to revive the classic grand tourer formula, but with a contemporary edge—resulting in the Ferrari 456 GT, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 1992.
The 456 GT was designed by Pininfarina, led by Lorenzo Ramaciotti, and represented a significant departure from Ferrari’s more angular designs of the 1980s. Instead of the sharp, aggressive lines of the Testarossa, the 456 GT embraced a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette with a long hood, flowing curves, and a subtly integrated rear spoiler.
Some of the key design elements included retractable headlights, hidden air intakes, aluminium body panels mounted on a steel tubular chassis all with a wind-cheating focus on aerodynamics.
Unlike many Ferrari models, the 456 GT was designed to be understated and elegant, rather than aggressively styled—aiming to appeal to a clientele that valued discretion and refinement.
We are pleased to offer this stunning 456 GT. Finished in Bianco over Nero Conolly Leather, this 90’s Ferrari powerhouse is nothing short of the ultimate grand tourer. One of only a limited number produced for right-hand drive markets, it is an exceptional find.
Delivered new to its first owner in Hong Kong in 1998, it enjoyed a well cared for and serviced, single ownership over 20 years until arriving in Australia in 2022. Since then the 456 has received a mechanical refresh and exterior restoration in its factory Bianco, with the interior remaining as original.
At the heart of the Ferrari 456 GT is a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 , a brand-new engine at the time that had no direct connection to previous Ferrari V12s. Performance is sheer supercar – 440hp delivering 550Nm of torque from 4,500 rpm, with a 5.0 second 0-100 sprint and top speed of 309km/h – making it the fastest 4-seat production car in the world at the time.
Power is transmitted through a six-speed gated manual transmission, with a true analogue feel almost forgotten today. Coupled with a rear-mounted transaxle, weight distribution is a near-perfect 50:50 balance—enhancing handling and stability at high speeds.
On the road, this 456 is sublime. Through the design of the spaceframe chassis, Ferrari have combined comfort and handling precision all in one. With independent suspension on all corners, electronically adjustable dampers for sport and comfort and speed sensitive power steering, the day-to-day or the every other day is well taken care of. Braking is equally matched with Brembo ventilated discs all round.
Step inside the 456’s cockpit and you find one of the most luxurious interiors ever seen in a Ferrari of the era. Handcrafted by Connolly Leather with a focus on comfort and long-distance usability. A true 2+2 seater with adjustable bucket seats are as supportive as they are comfortable. The dashboard and instrumentation layout is spread out across the cabin with all relevant information available at a glance and total control.
With just 39,923kms travelled, complete with a fresh Ferrari specialist service and two keys, this classic Ferrari icon is ready to be enjoyed.
